The Brazilian female soccer team was also present at the Paris Olympics and did win silver medal. In the final, the U.S. defeated Brazil 1−0 thanks to Swanson's goal in the second half. For Brazil, it was an incredible run, especially for Marta. The soccer icon had an emotional rollercoaster of a tournament. She received a straight red card in the final group stage match against Spain, suspending her for the quarterfinal and semifinal matches. Still, Brazil was able to knock out France and Spain to reach the final, just in time for Marta's return. The Copa América in 2024

In 2024 the Copa América was on the agenda and a new Nike Soccer Team Collection was presented for the Brazilian Team in March 2024. The 2024 Copa América was held across the United States from June 20 to July 14, 2024 bringing together 16 participating nations and it is here that the new Nike Brazil 2024 home kit was worn. Unfortunately Brazil could not win the tournament this time. Argentina was the defending champion, and successfully won a record sixteenth title after defeating Colombia 1−0 after extra time in the final.

The new Nike Brazil 2024 home jersey has the traditional color scheme of yellow and green, and comes with a second, very pale yellow. The graphics in the lighter shade of yellow of the Brazil 2024 kit showcase Brazilian fauna and culture. The color scheme reflects the campaign motto "Brazil Para Todos" ("Brazil for All"), and the country's stylized flag can be seen inside the collar. Green details make their way onto the collar completing the iconic Brazilian look that every soccer fan knows, while the sleeve cuffs have a green and blue wave pattern honoring Brazil's chaotic nature .A redesigned look brings the iconic Brazil crest to the center of the jersey, paying homage to the jerseys of the early 2000s. Viradouro crowned Champion of Rio's Carnival 2024

In February the most popular celebration on the planet, Carnival, was held in Brazil as well. And Brazilians do know how to party and celebrate carnival. Brazil is a diverse country and this is also visible in its Carnival Celebrations as there are multiple types across the country. From the famous Samba Parade in Rio and São Paulo, through the trios elétricos carnival in Salvador, the Olodum parade in Pelourinho, Frevo parties in Recife and Olinda to the many local Street Parties across Brazil. The Samba Parade Carnival in Rio, the most popular one and well−known, is an important news item world wide.

Samba Schools compete to become champion and this year the Viradouro samba school has won Rio's Carnival parade competition with its tribute to black women. They also did honour a cobra which is considered sacred in some parts of the African country of Benin. In this way the samba school wanted to highlight Brazil's historic ties with Benin, from where many were taken to Brazil as slaves. The snake symbol was visible in the impressive floats and costumes. Congrats Viradouro!

Many Brazilians go to the Coast for New Year's Eve
It is tradition for some Brazilians to throw white flowers into the sea and place floating candles on the water. This important tradition is to make offerings for Yemanja (the sea godess) at the beach. People would do this wearing white. The tradition of wearing white clothes on New Year's Eve in Brazil is rooted in the country's cultural and religious practices. The color white is associated with peace, purity, and renewal, making it a popular choice for celebrating the beginning of the New Year. Rio de Janeiro is the most popular destination to celebrate New Year's Eve and the main attraction is the fireworks on Copacabana Beach that last for about 15 to 20 minutes.

Brazil faces Increasing Droughts and Floods
The impacts of climate change are different across the planet, but in Brazil drought and flood events have become more frequent. The drought and historically low water levels have affected hundreds of thousands of people and wildlife both in Pantanal and Amazon. The climate volatility is also impacting the concert and event industry. In October 2023, heavy rain in the South region led the Oktoberfest's organizers, in Blumenau, to postpone the event by a week. On the first weekend of November, the city of São Paulo was hit by a heavy storm that required last−minute repairs at the Formula 1 facilities, in Interlagos. The organizers of the Tomorrowland festival, held in October, in the countryside of São Paulo, had to call off one of the days due to heavy rain. In May 2024 extreme rainfall has caused severe flooding in the southern Brazilian state of Rio Grande do Sul. It is considered one of the worst climate disasters Brazil has been faced with.

Lula has been elected the next President of Brazil (30/10/2022)
After winning the elections end October 2022 Luiz Inácio Lula da Silva has been sworn in as the new president of Brazil on January 1st 2023. This will be his third term, after previously governing Brazil for two consecutive terms between 2003 and 2010. It had been a turbulent election campaign that resulted in a politically divided country. Brazil was on edge for some time, with pro-Bolsonaro truckers setting up roadblocks to protest Lula's return to power. Some supporters of the former President refused to accept his election defeat and stormed the Congress, the Supreme Court and Presidential Palace in the capital on Sunday 8th of January 2023. Following the election, many Brazilians were banding together – at least momentarily – for the Qatar World Cup. Soccer is part of Brazil's identity. Will the World Cup unite Brazil again?

Pelé (°23/10/1940 – †29/12/2022)
Considered by many to be the greatest soccer player ever, Pelé is the only player in history to win three World Cups. Inspiration and love marked the journey of the most famous Brazilian soccer player also called 'King Pelé' who peacefully passed away on 29 December 2022.
Pelé began playing for Santos at age 15 and the Brazil national team at 16. During his international career, he won three FIFA World Cups: 1958, 1962 and 1970. On his journey, Edson enchanted the world with his genius in sport, stopped a war, carried out social works all over the world and spread what he most believed to be the cure for all our problems: love. His message today becomes a legacy for future generations. Love, love and love, forever.

The FIFA World Cup Qatar 2022™ (20/11 to 18/12/2022)
The new Nike Brazilian National Team Collection for the Qatar World Cup in 2022 was inspired by the jaguar, representing the fierce determination that drives every Brazilian. The home shirt for the 2022 World Cup, the famous "Amarelinha or Yellow Shirt", has prints with designs inspired by Pelé with leopard print and green details on the collar and sleeves. The shorts are blue with yellow numbers, while the white socks feature green and blue details.
Unfortunately the Brazilian team could not bring the World Cup home again as they were eliminated by Croatia after a penalty shoot -  out. Their departure from the World Cup at the quarter-finals stage comes as a shock after they earned a memorable 4 - 1 win against the Republic of Korea in the round of 16.
